Full-Time ROTA Nanny | Private Family | Woodside, CA
A warm, thoughtful private family in Woodside is seeking an experienced, highly professional ROTA nanny to join their collaborative childcare team. This is a full-charge, live-out role supporting four children, currently ages 4 months, 3, 6.5, and 8.5.
The family is looking for someone who sees nannying as meaningful long-term work and takes real pride in helping children grow into kind, capable, resilient, and independent people. The right person will be warm, engaging, organized, calm under pressure, and equally comfortable caring for an infant, guiding a toddler through routines, and supporting the changing social and activity needs of school-aged children.
This is a team-oriented household with four nannies, along with additional household and family-support staff. Two nannies typically work each day, and everyone is expected to communicate well, support one another, and step in where needed. While teamwork is essential, each nanny must also be confident taking full ownership of the children and making thoughtful decisions independently.
What You’ll Do
Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate care for all four children
Create engaging days that include play, learning, outdoor time, activities, and age-appropriate routines
Prepare healthy children’s meals and snacks
Maintain the children’s rooms, play spaces, belongings, supplies, and wardrobes in an organized, thoughtful way
Stay ahead of seasonal clothing needs, activity supplies, and age-appropriate materials
Coordinate children’s schedules, including school, activities, appointments, playdates, and time with nearby family
Research extracurricular activities, coaches, instructors, and programs that align with each child’s interests and the parents’ goals
Assist with children’s laundry as needed
Communicate clearly with parents, fellow nannies, and household staff to ensure smooth handoffs and consistency
Prepare for and travel with the family as needed
Provide occasional dog care or support when needed
Schedule
This is a full-time, live-out ROTA position within a collaborative four-nanny team. Candidates should expect to work approximately three to four days per week, with shifts generally lasting 13+ hours, depending on the family’s schedule and needs.
The role includes a rotating share of weekends, travel, PTO coverage, and occasional schedule adjustments. The family and team work hard to provide as much advance notice and consistency as possible, but flexibility is an important part of this position.
What We’re Looking For
At least five years of professional childcare experience in a comparable role
Experience caring confidently for infants, toddlers, and school-aged children
A collaborative, team-first mindset, along with the ability to work independently and use excellent judgment
A warm but confident approach to boundaries, routines, and encouraging independence
Strong communication skills and a high level of emotional intelligence
Exceptional discretion and respect for family privacy
A clean driving record and comfort driving an employer-provided vehicle
Current CPR and First Aid certification
A valid passport and enthusiasm for family travel
Experience in a staffed household is helpful, but not required
Mandarin fluency is a strong plus, but not required
Comfort around dogs
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation starts at $50 per hour, commensurate with experience. The family also offers a generous benefits package, including health benefits, paid time off, a 401(k) with employer contribution and match, and continued-education reimbursement.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a career nanny who enjoys being part of a high-functioning, respectful household team and wants to make a lasting impact on a wonderful group of children.
